Born in Paris in 1969. After undertaking an artistic training in Art school and 17 years of a career in Graphic Design, I decided to take a big leap in 2010 under the alias of «Stephen Bates»

in painting where I am capable of expressing my 7th passion of art. 

Adopting Studios Harcourt's style, experimenting with black and white contrasts, I strive to place the character traits of my models at the forefront of my works, occasionally gracious and elegant, at intervals brutal and powerful, it constantly evokes the «films noir» golden age of cinema.
